Sewapalooza!

I didn't really know what to expect when a good friend asked if I was interested in going to Sewapalooza with her. I googled it and found it was an event sponsored by Bernina. These events are held all over the country. Our event took place at Quilted Threads in Henniker, New Hampshire. I'm happy with my sewing machine but it sounded like a fun time. I read that you work on a few projects. I could always use a day of sewing!

This was the first project we worked on. It's a pouch to carry around cords while travelling. I got to use different embroidery stitches. I've never worked on a Bernina before but the instructors were great. They made me very comfortable. I used many different feet as well. I used a foot to sew on the button. My own machine does that but I never use it! I don't use many of the embroidery stitches either. After yesterday, I think I'm going to look into all the different things my machine can do. It's never too late to learn!

There were two other projects also. One is a travel pillow and the other is a wristlet pouch to carry your cell phone and other little items. There were 3 of us on a machine and we all took turns working on a different project. I got kits to finish the remaining 2 projects at home.

I won a door prize! I really wasn't that lucky. We all won a door prize! Isn't that nice?! It made for a really fun day. Other than the door prize, we were treated to breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack made up of cheesecake and chocolate mousse cream pie! I definitely ate too much!

We received goody bags which included the t-shirt seen at the beginning of this post. The bag included little things like a luggage tag and chocolates. At the end of the day, we received these wonderful vacuum kits for our sewing machines! I've always wanted one but never got around to buying it.

We had time to shop throughout the day. I bought a couple of books as well as the two items pictured. I had never seen that Point Turner & Presser. We used Isacord thread for our embroidery so I bought some thread too. The shop is great. I would really love to return and spend more time discovering all the shop has to offer.

All in all, it was a great time. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. You won't regret. So fun!
